Thumbnail image format settings
Extreme Thumbnail Generator can generate thumbnails using different resize filters and methods. Find more information on all of them below.
JPEG quality
All thumbnail images are generated in JPEG format. You can set the quality of generated thumbnail image using the JPEG quality slider or edit. JPEG image quality can by any number from 1 to 100. 1 means the worst quality and the smallest file size, while 100 means the best quality and the biggest file size.
Resize filter
You can select different resize filters to obtain different thumbnail image quality. Also different filtes are applied with different speed, so it's up to you to choose between quality and speed. Extreme Thumbnail Generator offers the following thumbnail resize filters:
Nearest - fastest, average quality
Linear - fast, average quality
Spline - slow, average quality
Lanczos - slowest, best quality
Mitchell - slow, good quality
Thumbnail resize method
Extreme Thumbnail Generator offers the following ways of shrinking the original image to generate the thumbnail image:
Scale - both sides of the image are shrunk proportionally. This method is recommended when all your images have the same width and height.
Automatically crop - the wide side of the image is shrunk proportionally and the other side is cropped to fit the width or height you specify in the thumbnails options. This resize methods ensures that all your thumbnail images has exactly the same width and height as specified.
Fixed width, crop vertically - the horizontal side of the image is shrunk to the set value and the vertical side is shrunk proportionally. This resize method lets you generate thumbnails with the same width.
Fixed height, crop horizontally - the vertical side of the image is shrunk to the set value and the horizontal side is shrunk proportionally. This resize method lets you generate thumbnails with the same height.
Fixed size, stretch to fit - all thumbnail images will have width and height equal to what you specify. The original image is shrunk to fit the thumbnail size without maintaining the original proportions.
Fixed size, fill background - all thumbnail images will have width and height equal to what you specify. The original image is scaled to fit the thumbnail width or height and all appended areas are filled with the selected background color.
