New Search Wizard

To help you create a new Search Extreme Picture Finder has a New Search Wizard. The Wizard has several steps that let you specify search parameters.

You can open the New Search Wizard using one of the following:

  • Menu command Search | New Search...

  • Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + N

  • New Search button on the main window toolbar

Step 1. Search phrase

Search phrase

Here you must enter your search phrase (or search keywords) for the Web Image Search. The phrase may contain the following special characters that will let you obtain the most relevant results:

  • " " Example: "pac man". Images relevant to the phrase "pac man" will be found.

  • + Example: +pac. Results must include the term "pac". You can create a more complex query by stringing along a sequence of terms. For example, +pac +man.

  • - Example: "dog breeders" -poodles. Results will include images relevant to "dog breeders" excluding the term "poodles".

Step 2. Search mode

This step allows you to select the most convenient search mode. The following search modes are available:

  • Only thumbnails. In this mode Extreme Picture Finder will download only thumbnails. This is the fastest search mode. It uses the least amount of Internet traffic. After all thumbnails are downloaded Extreme Picture Finder will stop and you will be able to choose which full-size and related images to download.

  • Only full-size images. In this mode Extreme Picture Finder will find and download only full-size images without downloading the thumbnails. Later you will be able to download all related images for each full-size image individually. You can specify image size limits using the Search properties to avoid downloading very small or very big images.

  • Thumbnails and full-size images. In this mode Extreme Picture Finder will download both thumbnails and full-size images. Later you will be able to download all related images for each image individually. You can specify image size limits using the Search properties to avoid downloading very small or very big full-size and related images.

  • Full-size and related images. In this mode Extreme Picture Finder will download the full-size images and all images located on the page where the full-size was found (also known as "related images"). You can specify the image size limits using the Search properties to avoid downloading very small or very big images.

  • All images. In this mode Extreme Picture Finder will download all thumbnails, full-size and related images automatically. This is the slowest search mode. It uses the maximum amount of Internet traffic to deliver you the maximum number of images. You can specify image size limits using the Search properties to avoid downloading very small or very big full-size and related images.

Step 3. Search engines

Here you can select which Search Engines to use for this Search. To select a particular Search engine check the box next to its name. Clear the box next to the Search engine name if you do not wish to use the corresponding engine.

Step 4. Destination folder

Destination folder

This field contains the name of the folder where all found images will be saved. Clicking the ... button lets you select a folder.

Step 5. Finish

Save search as...

This field contains a default Search file name.
