New Project Wizard

To help you create a new Download Project Extreme Picture Finder has a New Project Wizard. The Wizard has several steps that let you enter basic information about the Web site that contains necessary files and the way to explore it.

You can open the New Project Wizard using one of the following:

  • Menu command Project | New Project...

  • Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P

  • New Project button on the main window toolbar

Step 1. Starting Address

Starting address (URL)

Here you must specify the address that will be used by Extreme Picture Finder to start searching for files. The Download Project can have more than one starting address, but here you can specify only the first one. To add additional starting addresses you must use the Project Properties window after the project is created.

The site is password protected

If the starting address is protected by the password, you must check this box and specify the username and password in corresponding fields. For the password-protected sites with HTML forms authentication set the Manual login box. In this case Extreme Picture Finder will open a browser window and let you login into the site manually.

Step 2. Project title and category

Title

Enter the project title in this field. The title is used to display a Project on the Project Tree.

Category

Every Extreme Picture Finder Project belongs to a certain category. This field contains the name of the category that is selected for the new project by default. To select another category click the ... button that opens the Select category window.

Step 3. Site exploration type

The Site exploration type tells Extreme Picture Finder how to effectively explore the site and find as much files as possible.

Regular site

This exploration type used for the sites that have target files located within the site itself or have direct links to target files on other sites. The majority of sites can be explored using this exploration type.

Thumbnail Gallery Post site (TGP)

This exploration type is only for TGP sites or pages. The TGP sites has links to the galleries located on external sites and usually doesn't have target files within the site itself. Please select this exploration type when you are absolutely sure.

Step 4a. Regular site exploration

Here you can select the site exploration limits.

  • Entire site. Select this option if you want Extreme Picture Finder to explore the entire site, starting from the Starting Address. Extreme Picture Finder will follow only links that lead to the pages within the site.

  • Current directory and deeper. Select this option if you want Extreme Picture Finder to explore the directory specified in the Starting Address with all its subdirectories. Target Files that are not stored within this directory will not be downloaded.

  • Current page only. Select this option if you want Extreme Picture Finder to download Target Files only from the page specified in Starting Address. Extreme Picture Finder will follow only links that lead to Target Files and download them.

    • Download files from external sites. If this box is checked, then Extreme Picture Finder will download Target Files that located outside the site specified in Starting Address. Other outside links, the ones that do not lead to Target Files, will be ignored.

  • Follow all links, limit only the exploration depth. Select this option if you want Extreme Picture Finder to follow all links that it can find. It will not follow the link only if it is deeper than the exploration depth limit.

    • Exploration depth limit. Here you can enter the maximum allowed exploration depth. The Starting Address's exploration depth is 1. All links that were found on Starting Address's page will have exploration depth 2. Any link found on any of these pages will have exploration depth 3. And so on.

Step 4b. TGP site exploration

Gallery link contains

In this field you can specify a part of URL that every gallery links contains. Specifying this can speed-up the download.

To find out if all links to the external galleries have something in common, you'll have to view the source of the TGP page. Often the common part of gallery links looks like this out.php?url= or &url= or go.php?gallery=

Step 5. Target files

Here you can select the type of files to be downloaded.

Image files

Selecting this box will add the following file tpyes: *.jpg, *.jpe, *.jpeg, *.png, *.gif, *.tif, *.tiff, *.pic, *.tga, *.bmp, *.pcx

Video files

Selecting this box will add the following file tpyes: *.mpg, *.mpeg, *.avi, *.wmv, *.asf, *.mov

Audio files

Selecting this box will add the following file tpyes: *.mp3, *.ogg, *.wav, *.wma, *.mid, *.au, *.aiff

Other files

Here you can specify here any number of additional file types separating them with commas. A valid file type consists of literal characters, sets, and wildcards.

Step 6. Destination folder

Destination folder

This field contains the name of the folder where all downloaded files will be saved. Clicking the ... button lets you select a folder.

Preserve folder structure of the site

If this box is checked, then Extreme Picture Finder will recreate the folder structure of the site, creating all necessary folders under the Destination folder.

Step 7. Finish

This field contains a default project file name.

Show advanced project properties

If this box is checked, then the Project Properties window is opened after the Project is created.

Contribute this project to online database

If this box is checked, then a newly created Project is automatically sent to the Online Project Database.

Immediately start this project

If this box is checked, then the new Project is automatically started once the New Project Wizard is closed.
