Download Project

Projects Tree
Extreme Picture Finder uses Download Projects to download files from the web. Every Project belongs to a Category and displayed in the main program window, on the Projects Tree. Selecting a Project in this tree show all downloaded files and folders.

The Download Project contains the information that lets Extreme Picture Finder find and download all necessary files from all starting addresses. You can narrow the search by adding URL filters, enter as many file types to download as you need, specify the desired file size and creation date, and tell Extreme Picture Finder what to do after the download is finished.

Creating a new Project

Extreme Picture Finder offers the following ways to create a new Download Project:

  • Menu command Project | New Project... is used to create a new Download Project from scratch. This command opens the New Project Wizard where the basic Project properties can be specified.

  • Menu command Project | Clone project... can be used to create a new Project using the existing one as a template - to clone project.

  • Also a Project can be found in the Online Project Database and downloaded to the hard drive. The built-in Database Explorer can be opened using menu command Tools | Explore Online Project Database...

Starting a Project

To start downlading files from the Web you have to "start" a Project. Extreme Picture Finder has three different ways of starting a Project. Click here for more information about it.

Modifying Project properties

Menu command Project | Project properties... is used to modify Project properties. It opens the Project Properties window.

Deleting a Project

Menu command Project | Delete project is used to delete a Project. Download Project can be deleted with all downloaded files.

Another way to delete a Project is to delete a Category - menu command Project | Category | Delete category. All Projects that belong to the Category will be deleted in this case. and the downloaded files of the deleted Projects will remain on the hard drive.

Contributing a Project to the Online Project Database

Contributing your Projects to the Online Project Database may help other Extreme Picture Finder users to find necessary files on the Web much easier.

Menu command Project | Contribute project to online database... is used to contribute a Project to the Online Project Database. The contributed Project will not appear immediately in the Database. It will be reviewed, classified, tested and then added to the appropriate category of the Database. Providing a good project description may help other users.

Another way to contribute a Project is to check the Contribute this project to online database box on the last step of the New Project Wizard.
